Luxury Parisian showcase in the 16th arrondissement

In 2010, architects from Design 2L called on our services for a family apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
As part of an overall renovation project, our brief was to create bespoke fittings for several rooms. The apartment required sophisticated storage and fitting solutions: a master suite including a dressing room, two other bedrooms with custom-made bookcases, mirrored furniture in the bathrooms, as well as a bookcase for the living room and cupboards in the hallways.
The main challenge lay in our ability to faithfully convey the architectural vision in every detail, while leveraging our technical expertise.
Smart and sophisticated storage solutions
We began with extensive preparatory work to make certain that the design was perfectly aligned with the architects’ expectations.
Detailed samples of each finish were provided, and all the trims were first prototyped for approval before final production. The centrepiece of the project was the master suite, where we designed a multifunctional furniture unit. It separates the sleeping area from the dressing room, doing away with the need for a traditional partition while maximising storage space.
Positioned opposite the bed, this unit incorporates a television and concealed storage on the front, while the rear section forms part of the dressing room. Access to the dressing room is via a curtained sliding door fitted with a full-height mirror on the dressing-room side.
In addition to the master suite, all the apartment’s storage elements have been designed to strike a balance between practicality and visual appeal. The fittings are adapted to each room’s function and overall feel. As a result, each piece fits beautifully into its setting, while fulfilling the specific needs of its users.
Bespoke finishes for every space
The project stands out for the meticulous focus on the finishes, with each item receiving a unique, bespoke treatment. In the children’s and guest bedrooms, we applied an open-pore lacquer finish that preserves and enhances the natural grain of the oak.
The furniture in the master suite is crafted from ebony-stained oak veneer for the main surfaces, while the complex structural parts are made from solid wood in the same shade. The ensemble is enhanced by a satin varnish finish.
To meet the project’s exact design specifications, we created an exclusive brushed stainless steel-effect finish for the handles, produced specially for this customer and never reproduced since.
